Ezra Hays, Chair
Ezra has been involved with politics since he was 16. Recently he led the No on Amendment H campaign, one of the top performing no on open primary movements in the country. He is also the Region 6 Director for the State GOP and a Meade County Committeeman. In addition, he has helped candidates with statewide and local campaigns.
Ezra was born in a small town in Ohio in 1985. His dad was a pastor, so he moved frequently as a child. He attended college in Mitchell where he met his wife, Carmen. After the death of their first child, Ezra and Carmen became foster parents. They have hosted about 70 children, adopted eight, and have been homeschooling for ten years. Their oldest son graduated last May.
Ezra has spent most of his professional career in construction. His company, Hays Contracting, has been in business since 2011. Recently, he expanded into real estate investing. In his free time, he volunteers in Christian youth programs on Native American Reservations and helps with building projects in South Dakota and Montana. He also served as captain at a volunteer fire station and organized his local road district and water association (served as President for 7 years).
